Today, Windows is one of the most popular operating systems in the world. According to various sources, the share of Windows on desktops exceeds 80%. Windows infrastructures of various sizes are present in almost every corporate network. That is why Windows has been and remains a desirable target for cybercriminals and malicious software. It should be noted that most of the existing malware is focused on Windows. There are also a huge number of different attack techniques and vectors, often based on the architectural flaws of this family of operating systems. Therefore, knowledge of the Windows internals, peculiarities of its usage in corporate infrastructure, security architecture, and typical attack vectors are very important for almost any cybersecurity specialist today.
