Practical introduction to the startup financing, including more traditional ways, like venture capital, but also touching upon new financing trends that are gaining traction these days, such as crowdfunding and ICO.
The course focuses on practical aspects of fundraising, including financing strategy, financial instruments, ways to approach investors and specific details that can make or break it when it comes to raising funds.
The course will contain several case studies and the final project that will consist of preparation of the financing strategy for the students’ own projects.
Vadim Tarasov serves as a Venture Partner at Target Global. He is a Venture Partner at Bright Capital LLC and Digital Strategy Advisor at Media3. Previously, he was an Associate Partner at Bright Capital LLC.
He works with companies in renewable fuels, advanced materials, Information Technology, Internet and digital media sectors. Tarasov served as an Investment Director at Bright Capital LLC since November 2011. From 2009 to 2011, he was the International Business Development Director at IQ One, an investment company focusing on IT, Internet & New Media projects in Russia. He worked as a Managing Partner at CB Invest. He served as Managing Director at Altpoint Ventures.
Vadim spent 10 years working in telecom, technology transfer and venture capital / private equity in Europe and Russia, working for large industrial corporations such as H.P. or CapGemini and having Co-Founded and led BMAT.
He is an Independent Director at CIAN group. He serves as a Director of Teambox Technologies S.L. He has been a Director of UppTalk S.L. since May 22, 2012. He serves as Director of Idibon, Inc. He was also a Board Member at the leading Spanish Seed Investment Company, DAD from 2010 to 2011.
Tarasov holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics from Lomonosov Moscow State University and an MBA from La Salle University in Barcelona, Spain. He also holds Master’s degree in E-Business from Universitat Ramon Llull.
The objective of the course is to give the students necessary skills to be able to design the fundraising strategy for their project and execute it.
The secondary objective is to give the students the base knowledge of venture capital and new trends of financing to prepare them to further study and improve their skills in this field on their own, should consider pursuing a career in venture capital.
